Text Etiquette
*Source : from InStyle mag, Oct 08
In a text-happy world, it still pays to be polite.
At restaurants
Sending text messages during a meal is telling your dining companions that they are not as important or as interesting as the person on the other end of your Blackberry. If it is absolutely necessary, excuse yourself from the table.
Phone call
If someone calls you, you should call back, not send a text. The only exception is if it`s someone you`re really close to – and the question requires a quick yes or no.
In meetings
The only time using a Blackberry in a meeting is acceptable is if you are waiting for a critical, pertinent e-mail. In general, avoid temptation by not bringing it in the first place.
Everyone at once
Unless it`s a momentous occasion or an emergency, sending a mass text message is inappropriate.
In brief
Too many text-speak abbreviations in one message is annoying, not funny at all.
Mistake
If you send a message to the wrong person, dont try to spin it or cover it up. Make a simple apology and move on. And dont beat yourself up – everyone has had a digital slipup.
