Art Display

Found a very neat window display at Kinokuniya bookstore in KLCC. Awesome artworks of several artists were displayed. You may observe the artists name on the lower right end corner of each painting.

Mooncake Festival

This is the Mid-autumn Festival held in Mid Valley from 28 August till 19 September 2013.

The nice modern lightings are resembling the lanterns normally used in the Mooncake Festival.

*The Lantern Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn or Mooncake Festival, traditionally signifies the end of the harvest season. Malaysian Chinese homes celebrate with family get-togethers, prayers, and mooncakes, while kids show off their latest lantern designs. Malls and landmarks in the city like Petaling Street will be gaily decorated with thousands of lit lanterns, while various other activities all add up to a festive atmosphere.- Tourism Malaysia

4th Day of Raya

After three days of entertaining guests in the house for Raya, went out for a late family lunch.

/\ ..and had this marvellous Arabic Chicken Briyani and teh tarik in a cup.
The chicken was tender and juicy and the rice was perfect.
A nice relaxing day, indeed.

It`s Chicken Rice Shop la!

This branch has been renovated recently. Love their new décor and wall display.

During the last few days of Ramadan, after my shopping spree, I went over to buy(tapau) two packs of roasted chicken rice and mango salad (kerabu mangga). That were the last two packs available on that day, how lucky of me!

1st Week Puasa 2013

Like last year, another Malay Kampung House-themed decoration for Aidil Fitri 2013. It looks like a grand looking wakaf with Minangkabau`s roof. Nice flowers and plants all around, with Minangkabau-roof small kiosks in between the garden around the wakaf, selling kuih raya and such.

My Collage

This is my only completed collage. Most of the others are still in the making process. Have been collecting a lot of materials to play with, but time is my constraint. Maybe in the second half of this year when I have more time, I will dive into this hobby deeper. Struggling but determined to improve.

This collage was made solely of cuttings from magazines.

Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Well actually its on the 10th of February 2013, but the shopping complexes have begun decorating. Red is everywhere. Married couples, be ready with angpows (the red packets with money inside), okay!

Late Lunch, Again.

*The Minangkabau ethnic group, also known as Minang (Urang Minang in Minangkabau language), is indigenous to the Minangkabau Highlands of West Sumatra, in Indonesia. Rumah gadang (Minangkabau: 'big house') or rumah bagonjong (Minangkabau: 'spired roof house') are the traditional homes of the Minangkabau.

This restaurant serves Indonesian and Minang cuisine. Their signature dish is the Ayam Penyet.

**Ayam Penyet is a traditional Indonesian cuisine which originates from Surabaya. It is a popular chicken dish where the fresh chicken is specially marinated with various spices and herbs . The meat is then smashed with a wooden headed hammer and deep fried until golden light brown. One of the unique feature in preparing this funny name dish is the art of frying where it is crispy from outside and juicy inside.*

We had the Ayam Penyet set, Gulai Pucuk Ubi Lemak Cili Api, with white rice; and Hot Lemon Tea and Mango Lovers Fruit Ice Blended. The food was marvellous for us, and both drinks were fantastic. Their hot lemon tea is my personal favourite. The restaurant is presentable and service was fast and good.

Super Pan Pizza, with cheese and garlic Napoli sauce in the crust that`s crispy outside and fluffy inside; smoked deli wings and hot passion tea.

It was a pizzalicious late lunch cum high-tea for us.

First Try

Acrylic Painting

This is my first try using acrylic paint on acrylic paper.

I used acrylic colors straight from the tube on to the acrylic paper, freehand, free-style abstract. Will keep practicing, hope to do more elaborate and detail drawings with exciting colors in future.
